1959- The musical, "Gypsy" opens on Broadway.

1969- John Lennon and Yoko Ono begin a ten day "bed-in" in Montreal's Queen Elizabeth Hotel.

1980- The movie, "The Empire Strikes Back" is released.

2005- The tallest roller coaster in the world, Kingda Ka, opens at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson Township, New Jersey.
