N.C. mom admits to tattooing 12-year-old daughter
SALISBURY, N.C. (KABB) -- A mother has been charged with tattooing a heart-shaped tattoo on her 12-year-old daughter's arm.
Anna Yates admitted to television crews she tattooed her daughter. The 29-year-old has since been charged with tattooing a minor under the age of 18.
A social services agency first reported Yates to the Rowan County Sheriff's Office after receiving a tip about the tattoo.
Yates claimed she has a right to tattoo her child. "I feel like it's unfair because that's my daughter," Yates said. "And you know, there's other kids out here with tattoos and piercings and their parents signed for them, they had parental consent, I was the parent, I give consent for it, and I give it to my daughter."
She also admitted to previously tattooing a 15-year-old.
Yates is expected to appear in court later this month on a misdemeanor charge.
