Hamilton filmmakers have big roles in upcoming "Child of God" film
HAMILTON, Ohio (Derek Drake) -- A number of Hamilton men are at the forefront of an upcoming movie that is garnering high praise.
"Child of God," directed and co-written by James Franco, is an adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's Pulitzer Prize winning novel and stars Franco, Scott Haze and Tim Blake Nelson.
The film was co-written and produced by Hamilton native Vince Jolivette. Jolivette is making waves in Hollywood with credits such as "Spring Breakers" (executive producer), "Lovelace" (co-executive producer) and another Franco film, "As I Lay Dying" (producer).
Jolivette, along with fellow Hamilton-native Terrence Huff, also appears in the movie. Jolivette plays the role of Ernest and Huff plays the role of "The Pitchman" and can be seen in the trailer above manning the shooting gallery.
The assistant editor, Jay Davis, and set designer, Patrick Jackson, also hail from Hamilton.
The film has already turned heads around the world. It was screened in the official competition at the 70th Venice International Film Festival, was an official selection of the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.
The thriller made its United States premier at the 51st New York Film Festival and will hit theaters in the U.S. on August 1st.
