Fla. man paints American flag on home in protest of city code enforcement
BRANDENTON, Fla. (WKRC) -- A man tired of the code enforcement department's rules decided to painted an American flag on his home in protest.
Brent Greer from Brandenton, Fla. says the city's code enforcement has harassed him over cosmetic problems with his home. Greer wants the flag painted on his home to be a message to the department that what he does to his home shouldn't be their concern.
"It's to remind the city and all those who live here that this is America," Greer told WFLA-TV. "This is a free country. This is my home. This is not a shrine to Riverview Boulevard."
Greer is now due at a code enforcement hearing on June 17, but his plans for painting his home continues.
Greer plans on painting the second floor of his home with the Liberty Bell. He also painted a sign thanking his neighbors and supporters.
