Bounce house blowns away with children inside, 2 seriously injured
SOUTH GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (WKRC) -- Three children were injured when a strong gust of wind blew an inflatable bounce house into the air in rural, upstate New York town.
South Glens Falls Police said around 3:20 p.m. on Monday, April 12, 2014, a sudden gust of wind lifted the inflatable toy into the air. Witnesses say the toy was at least 50 feet in the air at it's highest.
Two boys playing inside were lifted into the air approximately 15-20 feet in the air before they fell out at different times.
A 6-year-old boy was found in a nearby street, and the a 5-year-old was located in an apartment building parking lot after reportedly striking a car after falling.
A 10-year-old girl suffered a minor shoulder injury after falling out of the bounce house before it went airborne.
Both boys suffered serious injuries and were airlifted to Albany Medical Center.
Police say there were several adults monitoring the play area, and the bounce house was staked into the ground.
The investigation is continuing, however police say this is a tragic accident and no charges have been filed.
