It looks simple, but it is so challenging. And the Rubik's Cube puzzle is 40 years old. For four decades this cube with the colored sides and twisty parts has been frustrating people trying to solve it. Well... not everyone is frustrated by it. In fact, some people solve Rubik's Cube puzzles with unbelievable speed.
What is the fastest time for solving a Rubik's Cube puzzle?
1. 5.5 seconds
2. 10.10 seconds
3. 15.15 seconds
The answer is: 1. 5.5 seconds
That time's incredible, but the website worldcubeassociation.org says it's true. That was accomplished last year by Mats Valk, a Dutch teenager. Feliks Zemdegs, an Australian teenager, won the World Rubik's Cube Championship competition last summer, solving the puzzle five times in an average of 8.18 seconds. The Rubik's Cube has improved for "speed-cubers" over the years, with more easily moving parts. But those times are still mind-boggling.
