Christie's auction house says its spring auction sold a world record of $154.2 million in jewelry. That included the largest flawless vivid blue diamond in the world. The auction house says the Winston Blue, a pear-shaped 13.22-carat diamond, fetched $23.8 million. Just a night earlier, Sotheby's auctioned $141.5 million of jewelry including the 100.09-carat Graff Vivid Yellow diamond ring for $16.3 million. Diamonds come in many colors.
What is rarest natural color diamond?
The answer is 3- red
Diamonds can naturally occur in many different colors. All of them are relatively rare, but several websites say the red diamond is the rarest of the rare. According to the website for the Capetown Diamond Museum, yellow is the most common of the fancy colored diamonds, but the most rare is the red diamond. The website says red diamonds are so rare that fewer than thirty true red diamonds are known to exist and most are small. The website, ehow.com, says green diamonds are exceptionally rare too, but reds are considered rarer because they're found in fewer places.
