She's not going to do five years. Vehicular manslaughter is only a misdemeanor. She's only facing up to 90 days in jail and up to a $750 fine and between three months and two years driver's license suspension. She'll probably be fined and receive a license suspension.

Obviously this girl should NOT work for a transportation company. From the area she was exiting you can CLEARLY see oncoming traffic PLUS you can CLEARLY see you should not be going that way. Because of her carelessness and own stupidity she caused the death of a woman who intrusted that company and the driver to get her from point A to point B. Accidents happen, yes but this one in particular could have been completely avoided had she used better judgement and followed the rules of the road.

tburd85, Tell it to the dead family member's family. OOPS sorry won't bring her back either, if that's the way your friend drives she shouldn't be working for a company makes her responsible for the life of other people. She could've killed more than just one person that day. I bet her passanger even questioned her about what she was going to do before she did it,guess we'll never know.

Eliza is one of my best friends Im glad that she is ok and sorry for the one who lost there life, putting her in jail wont bring her back. Everyone makes mistakes and deserves a second chance.

Whatever we do comes back to bite us. That's a law of nature. I'm sorry for the family of the person who was killed. And I am sorry for the person who made a mistake and got caught. She made a conscious decision to do something which she knew was wrong -- the signs pointed to it -- and so she has to pay the piper as they say.

Guess she thought that sign didn't mean HER.Vehicular manslauter YES! It WASN'T an accident, she made that turn on purpose, she planned it, she MEANT to do it. The only accident was the DEADLY one SHE caused.

It wasn't just an accident. It was a choice & a bad one. No, jail will not bring anyone back, just like taking her license away would not keep her from being behind the wheel of a different vehicle & possibly taking the life of someone elses family member. The parking lot is clearly marked. Let her sit in jail for the 5 years she'll most likely get & learn that her decisions do affect others & have consequences.

Ticket for illegal left turn? Yes! Vehicular manslaughter? No! Can't things just be an accident? Will putting her in jail bring anyone back? If you want to take her license, fine. The charges just seem over the top. She wasn't drunk, on drugs, etc. She just made a bad choice and will have to live with that horror the rest of her life.

People make that illegal left turn on a regular basis. I live very close to that Kroger and shop there frequently. It is really not worth risking a ticket or an accident to save 1 minute, 30 seconds of time to go around the building and exit at the light. It is sad that someone died due to her friend's poor judgement.
