CESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Three officers have been injured in a shooting at a police station in southern New Jersey.

The shooting occurred at the Gloucester Township police station in Camden County.

Police Chief Harry Earle says gunfire erupted inside the police station at about 5:45 a.m. Friday. The shooter, who was being held at the station, was shot and killed inside the municipal building.

Earle says two of the officers suffered graze wounds and were treated at a hospital and released. The third was hit twice in the leg and was undergoing surgery. Earle says he's expected to recover quickly.

Cincinnatus, on Yahoo it is reported that the man took a gun away from a cop. I guess he saw his chance and took it.

JasperMom, I live in Ohio, born in Cincinnati but agree with you :)

The article says the man was already being held at the police station. This sounds like a failure of the arresting officers to search him before bringing him in.

bcatz, I agree this was an isolated incident. What idiot in their right mind would shoot at armed police officers? I am happy that you love your state of Kentucky, but I love Ohio. In another article 1 in 4 KY children live in poverty...I'm sure the same could probably be said of OH. Let's face it, we both have "roaches" in our states that need to be exterminated.

This is a very rare isolated incident. The bad guy got lucky in Jersey. Kentucky is a better place to live than Ohio in my opinion, but the closer you get to Ohio, the more crime there is. That says it all. That's the facts. You may have a nice house but if you let roaches lose in your house, your house is bad news! Ohio is bad news!

Papps you make me laugh. Yes I do like in KY, shitty you say? My gun loving state has a drastically lower crime rate, so if that's "shitty" I'll take it all day long. As far as the reference to my sexual preference, well I'm straight but I'd be happy to make you my "girlfriend" when it comes to this issue. Minus the KY of course.

I must be reading this wrong -- they were holding the man at the police station and he shot 3 people before they shot him. How does a man being held at the police station have a gun that the police don't know about. Guess I'm just confused at this point.

Papps, LMAO how clueless can a liberal be? It’s been said that no one, with the intention of killing as many people as possible, plans to commit their crime at police stations (or other heavily armed location). Question 1: Did the shooter PLAN and VOLUNTARILY go to the police station? (No! He was arrested and TAKEN there). Question 2: Did the gunmen PLAN on murdering people or was he merely attempting to affect his escape? (Clearly he was attempting to escape). Question 3: Did the gunman (in a heavily armed police station) kill anyone? (NO) Question 4: Why? (Because his potential victims were ARMED!) What further proof do you people require? Shucks, Jim, arming victims won’t solve anything. LMAO. Simpleton. DavMoses, are you paying attention?
