MAHANOY CITY, Pa. (AP) - An eastern Pennsylvania high school says vandalism forced it to create a policy in which toilet paper has been taken out of the boys' bathrooms.

Boys at Mahanoy Area High School now must go to the school office to request toilet paper and sign it out. Principal Thomas Smith says that's helped solve a major problem of intentionally clogging toilets that's been going on for two years.

Smith says boys must sign out the toilet paper and then sign it back in. But the Republican-Herald of Pottsville reports some parents are protesting the policy.

Parent Karen Yedsena says some students are too embarrassed to go to the office to get toilet paper and are going home sick instead. School officials say they aren't aware of any such problems.

God himself used this type of punishment many times in the bible. weren't we all punished for the actions of Eve? wasnt whole races exterminated(God"s orders) for the sins of a few? but anyway, this is nothing like gun control. no ones rights are being violated. maybe unfair, but if anyone has any better alternatives to stop this behavior, im not reading them. jim- dont borrow from the basement pedophile! i cringe to think how you would have to pay him back.LOL

First they say vandals are removing the TP from bathrooms and then they say the vandals were clogging up the toilets in the bathrooms. Which is it? Why punish the majority of good kids in order to stop the small number of vandals? This is the same type of thinking that liberals use with gun control.

I love today’s little problem-solving geniuses! Their failure to capture the guilty party leads to ill-conceived, ridiculous rules that punish EVERYBODY! (As Ammy points out). I guess the students should be grateful no one was flushing their lunches, otherwise lunch would be banned! (I know, technically they ARE flushing their lunches). If they can’t catch the culprit(s), how do they KNOW it’s one of the boys? Couldn’t it just as easily be a teacher, principal, janitor, staff member, or the homeless pedophile that lives in the school basement? (Why does everyone neglect to consider the homeless pedophile living in the basement?) Instead of forcing students to walk all the way to the office, then all the way to the bathroom, just to have to return to the office before returning to class (WHAT? That’s a long time to be out of class), why not attach a roll to the bathroom hall pass? Is that too simplistic? Better yet, why not mount the toilet paper dispenser outside the bathroom and put it under Closed Circuit surveillance? The video would only need to be checked after a crisis. The school should NOT have removed the toilet paper without an EPA-approved DEFECATE plan in place (DEFECATE - Diarrhea Emergency Fecal Expulsion Containment And Tidy Endings ©). Long before I’d consider walking to the office to get a roll of toilet paper I’d borrow a roll from the basement pedophile.

Oh my...another result of a group who's actions, extremely juvenile in this case, result in punishing the majority...sound like the gun issue - sigh :(
