DENVER (AP) — Silly rabbits.

The furry creatures are wreaking havoc on cars parked at Denver International Airport by eating spark plug cables and other wiring.

To stop the problem, federal wildlife workers are removing at least 100 bunnies a month while parking companies install better fences and build perches for predator hawks and eagles.

Airport spokeswoman Laura Coale says that out of 4.3 million parking transactions in 2012, three claims were submitted for rodent or rabbit damage, and none was submitted with a claim for towing.

KCNC-TV reports there's another way to stop the damage that can cost thousands of dollars to repair.

Mechanics say coating the wires with fox or coyote urine can rob the rabbits of their appetite. Fox urine can be purchased at many hunting shops.

@Chenoosesmom it's worse than you thought LOL. 3 claims out of 4.3 million parked there. Wow let's over react and build fences and perches for predators to get rid of the aweful bunnies that are eating wires it is such an epidemic. Way to sensationalize a non-story, three cars out of 4.3 million were damaged. WOW such a huge number!

3-4 instances and the headlines say, 'RABBITS TAKE TOLL ON CARS AT AIRPORT" Such a ridiculous story. Not worth writing about. They are rabbits for crying out loud and they bit off a couple of cables. Out of the thousands of cars parked there, any idiot knows that 3-4 out of the many thousands is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. And not one tow truck. This is so laughable it's funny. Think of how much money they will spend over 4 rabbits. Where are the animal activists!!!!!

“… three claims were submitted for rodent or rabbit damage”. Oh my! America, DON’T PANIC! Perhaps if we are willing to sacrifice a few freedoms and pay more in taxes, government will be able to correct this heinous, out of control problem. I suggest establishing millions (if not BILLIONS) of checkpoints across America to inspect all vehicles for renegade rabbits and rodents.
