Union Townsip Police are investigating a case of road rage after an accident that closed Westbound 32 at Old State Route 74 near the Batavia Township line.

Investigators tell Local 12 News two vehicles went through the intersection when William Metzger got out of his car in the middle of the road to confront the driver of a pickup truck.

The pickup pulled out and drove off and that's when the 57-year-old from Williamsburg was hit by a third vehicle.

Metzger is in stable condition at the hospital.

Police intend to file charges against him for impeding traffic and being out in the middle of the road.

The driver who struck him is from Sardinia.

That man was not hurt and will not face any charges.

I know this guy on a personal level also and he needed to be charged with WAAAAAY more than what he was charged with. Why didn't the police site him for the accident and for the road rage?? I think Union Township dropped the ball on this one!!!!!!!!!! William Metzger has anger issues and needs to be locked up. He drives a semi truck for a living...isn't that scary?? What if he does this in his truck?

I hate saying this, but i know the guy on a personal level. The one who got hit. He has horrible anger issues. And karma gave him a little of what he deserves.

I actually had a guy a few months ago get out of his truck and start to punch the window of my driver side door because i flipped him off for flipping me off. I now have a bat in my car.

That'll teach him!! Stupid idiot! You just don't do stuff like that. I think the hospital should have drawn blood and tested this chump for drugs. Guarantee you he was under the influence of "something", or maybe going through withdrawal.

HammeringHank is 100% correct. I drive 32 every day and 90% of the problems are caused by people not going with the flow or they are driving in the wrong lane. Yes people! The left lane is not a cruising lane, it is actually for passing only! Once you have passed, move back to the right lane unless you are passing more cars! And for heavens sake get out of the way if someone is coming up behind you! I read a couple of weeks ago that Brown county is going to start pulling over and fining people for cruising in the left lane. But I doubt they will actually do it.

They need to get a few unmarked officers out in plain cars that have hidden cameras and just start sending heavy fines to people who drive aggressively. Once they start doing that, this crap will stop.

I stopped driving 32 in this area, and take alternate routes. It's incredible how bad the majority of drivers are. People run the lights constantly. It's too congested. Tailgating is the normal even if there's a line of cars ahead of you.
