The man who allegedly shot and killed a young mother in Northside last week was reportedly living with his victim.  44 year old Carlos Richardson appeared before a judge on Wednesday morning, one day after he was arrested for the death of 20 year old Candace DeMoss.

DeMoss was found shot and killed at a home near Beech Hill and Pullman Avenues on November 18th. She apparently lived in the home with Richardson, his wife, and his children.  Family members of DeMoss say the two were friends.

It's still not clear what led to the violence. A judge set Richardson's bond at $250,000.  The prosecutor pointed out that Richardson has 27 previous convictions, many of which are felonies.

On Tuesday, detectives conducted a search of the home where the murder took place.  Officials haven't said if they found any significant evidence in the case.

DeMoss leaves behind two children-ages one and three years.

@blackfinelady that's how racism is still a factor. Instead of teaching our younger generations that we all are one race, the human race, before labled by skin color, we are teaching to feed into the racism, and to stick together by color of skin. i was born in the eighties, regardless of my ancestors or familys belief. I myself, my mother & grandmother wasn't slaves nor owned slaves therefore I will not continue in the constant on going cycle of hate by ones skin color. You don't have to be a certain skin tone to experience racism. it will always be around as long as the racists live. this case has nothing to do with race. its a case of drugs, money, power- the act of playing the role of God. I ask the Lord to bless Candace's troubled soul & may justice be served for her senseless way of death.

his bond is 250, 000 b/c that's Judge Cheryl Grant for you. Each & every Judge in Hamilton County are different & sets their own standards, sterotypes & judgements. One judge will give an accused murderer a 1 million dollar bond while another judge like C. Grant, will set it at 250, 000. She also gave a white male accused rapist of a six year old a 250, 000 bond on the same day.

I'm just guessing...but maybe the fact that the victim and the accused both were heavily involved in drugs played more of a role in this murder than the colors of their skin...just a thought.

see Black People how them racist fools like lebolebo feel that is why I believe we need to say with our own races because as someone is accuse of killing someone white they want to hang them but see when they kill black folks they let the white one go home or they don't have to go to court until years later we better wake up people and why was she living with him and his family all them family members like her mom and cousin that was on tv why was she not living with them if she was getting her life together.

@ lebolebo: are you saying black people are fair game and their lives are worth less than "wite gurl"s are? Or are you just advocating lynching for black-on-white murders?

To point out the obvious: 1) It's Pullan, not Pullman Ave. 2) Whether the suspect in question is worthless or not, he's innocent until proven guilty. 3) Murdering someone has about as much to do with smoking dope as it does with DUI. The vast majority of people who use marijuana, even habitually, never kill anyone: drunks and alcoholics tend to be more violent. The US experimented with alcohol prohibition and found that its primary effect was to encourage the growth of organized crime. We've re-learned the same lesson with the War on Drugs, but it's taken us over forty years to face facts and realize that the New Prohibition has brought largely the same effects as the Old Prohibition did: slight decreases in habitual use, bad product in wide distribution (jake leg rotgut then; meth today) and increased incentives for criminal enterprises. It's not that marijuana is inherently perfectly harmless -- what is? -- but prohibiting it causes more and more serious problems than it solves; not to mention that so-called conservatives who rail about the "nanny state" otherwise nonetheless mysteriously require the government to tell them what substances they can and cannot ingest. People get killed when cars and guns are misused too (and remember, the victim was shot, not smoked to death): do you propose to have those outlawed as well? I have sympathy for the victim and condemn murder. Whoever killed Ms. DeMoss, I hope justice is carried out swiftly. But concerned 1, the conclusion you came to regarding this seemingly senseless murder also makes no sense whatsoever.

Just reviewed the very same thing, tcates. DUI, Driving under suspension, Cocaine user, Marijuana user, Cocaine dealer, weapons charges... A CLASS A WORTHLESS F___G PIECE OF SHI... Betcha he was a frequent dope smoker who would be the first to defiantly point out it is "just a plant" with no "ill side-effects" and "natural... Sure, so's hepatitis.

27 previous convictions, many of which are felonies = bond at $250,000? Something doesn't seem right here.
