A Northern Kentucky couple has been charged after their two-year-old child was found by neighbors wandering.

It happened Wednesday evening in Florence in a parking lot at the Village of Cross Creek apartments.

Officer arrived on the scene around 6:30 p.m. After a two hour search, Florence Police located the parents.

Investigators tell Local 12 News David Powell, 24, and Tiffany Wesley, 23, were sleeping in their apartment.  They were not aware that their little boy was missing.

Officials from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services responded.  The boy was released to a grandparent.

Both parents have been charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Minor, a class A misdemeanor.

If they left the toddler sleeping in a car no charges would have been filed.

There is no excuse for this. None whatsoever! If you have to take a nap, do it in shifts, so one person is always watching the child! Bet this is not the first time this child has been unattended!
