Police are now looking for a Florida woman who caused a scare in Sayler Park last week by allegedly taking her grandchild at gunpoint. Officers filed charges of aggravated menacing today against Tanya Pitts.

The Polk City, Florida woman took her grandson from the child's father on Friday at Fernbank Park.  The father states that Pitts pointed a gun at his chest and told him, "Back away or I'll shoot you."  She then left on River Road.

Pitts is not under arrest.  Police have not said if she or the child have been located.

C-mom- you answered your own question- "In her right mind". Heck, we have grandparents dragging their grand-kids behind their SUV in a hot-wheels toy racing car. People go crazy/act stupid everyday.

There has to be more to this story than what is printed in comments and in the article. NO WOMAN IN HER RIGHT MIND WOULD JUST GO TO A PARK WITH A GUN AND DEMAND A CHILD UNLESS SHE FELT THE CHILD WAS IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. Where is the child's mom? What is the dad doing? As I said, more information will be coming up. More to this story.

If what the alleged victim says is true, grandma just ruined her chances of custody and visitation.

stephaine: Thanks for the inside scoop on the story. Custodial battles can be a nightmare. Folks, if you divorce, forgive your spouse and DO NOT use your child as a pawn to punish your spouse.

She is not running from a bad situation, she didnt tell anyone she wanted to leave, she was supposed to be visiting her parents and never said anything about leaving. Her step- father pulled a gun literally on the babies dad, only because the dad was trying to figure out what they were doing with his kid, while they were trying to shove him in the car. This 18 month old little boy (who is so innocent, precious and doesnt deserve this sitation) is my nephew. Although I would like to step in and do something I cannot, hopefully with this investigation he will be placed with family here that has been with him for his entire life, istead of in Florida where the maternal grandparent live and decided only to visit this one time in his life to take him away. I hope that the police resolve this without this boy being in a position where he doesnt have to miss either parent, but also stays far away from the maternal grandmother because she just recently got out of prison for armed robbery on our military and while im not the person to judge and I believe people change I do not feel that my nephew would be save with someone that just got out of prison.

Fernbank Park is NOT and never has been in Delhi Township. Fernbank Park is in Sayler Park which is a neighborhood of the City of Cincinnati.
