(CBS) PALMETTO, Ga. - Palmetto police are looking for a grandmother and her boyfriend after her 13-month-old grandson was taken to the hospital for ingesting cocaine, CBS Atlanta reports.

Active warrants were issued Monday for Ebony Daniel, 34, and her 22-year-old boyfriend Charlie Martin. Palmetto Police Sgt. Lee Gragg said they are both charged with possession of cocaine, cruelty to children and reckless conduct. Meanwhile, the child's 17-year-old mother is considered a witness and has not been charged, Gragg said.

Police said the mother brought the toddler to Piedmont Newman Hospital after the boy ingested cocaine at the home of the boy's grandmother and her boyfriend. He was then transported to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Eggleston, where he tested positive for cocaine. The boy was released from the hospital.

Investigators said Monday they were awaiting toxicology reports to determine how much cocaine he ingested.

Palmetto police executed a search warrant at the grandmother's home on Saturday night, and "evidence was found and collected at the residence," Gragg said. He did not provide further details.

We should put birth control in the water. When you are married , or can certify the 2 parents ,and can prove financial responsibility, the State gives you the secret antidote. Another great idea would be to put welfare recipients on work farms. They can work in the fields all day, while the kids are in the farm day care centers. Some people fear work more than death. Paying our most lazy and stupid people to repatedly have more babies is destroying our country and society.

You know I have to give the baby's mother credit. Eventhough she is only 17 and probably knew that this would get her mom/the grandmother in trouble, it was more important to get that baby to the hospital.

Just two more low lifes that need to be gone. Sorry, lazy, good for nothing people. Probably being taken care of by someone. Certainly not working at a job -- that's common sense.

When a child comes into the hospital and they have reason to think that drugs are involved the do a complete blood work up and they find out what can be causing this child to act a certain way. They will run a drug test if they believe there is reason to.

Did they admit to the hospital staff that they baby ingested cocaine, or is testing babies for cocaine normal procedure?

lets not put blame on the grandmother for daughter (or could be her son's child) having a baby, IT HAPPENS. i am glad this child is expected to recover. has it been proven that this "missing" woman is the grandmother and not the mother? who knows. i just feel bad for the child.

Baby is 13 months old, so Ebony was grandma at 33. That means that woman and daughter were both about 15 when they had their children (or some combination thereof... woman may have been 18 and daughter 12). No mention of the baby's mother either.

You know people just because a girl has a baby at a young age doesn't really mean they are on welfare. (although these people most likely are) I get sick of listening to people automatically assume that. I had my son at 17 and my mom was a grandmother at 37. But I went back to school 2 weeks after I had him and got a job and bought everything for my son. He is now 11yrs old and to this day I have NEVER been on welfare and my son has alway lived with me. So remember, just because a girl is young doesn't always mean they are trash!!!!!!!!!!
