A former Northern Kentucky volleyball coach plead not guilty to sex charges Tuesday morning in a Pendleton County courtroom.
Cassandra Elfers is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old middle school student.
She posted a $2,500 bond.
The 21-year-old worked as a paraprofessional and part-time coach at Sharp Middle School in the Pendleton County School District. The boy played on a basketball team coached by Elfers' ex-boyfriend. She often helped out on the team.
She was arrested Jan. 18 for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with the teen.
Eric Deters represents Elfers. He maintains his client never had sex with the alleged victim. He also says she never sent any text messages from her phone to the boy's phone.
Elfers is a Dixie Heights High School graduate.
