Five people were hurt in a multi-vehicle crash on I-275 in Boone County early Wednesday morning.
It happened on the westbound side of the highway, near the exit to the Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport in Hebron.
Boone County Sheriff's deputies say traffic was a standstill due to construction on the road around 12:15 a.m. when 51 year old Garry Robinson of Petersburg hit the back of a vehicle driven by 51 year old Dale Shell of Covington.
Shell's car then rammed into a pickup driven by 21 year old Charles Centers Jr. of Burlington, which in turn hit the back of a semi-truck driven by 35 year old Okey Rodgers II of Columbus, OH.
Dale Shell was flown to University Hospital by Air Care with severe head injuries. His wife Denise was with him in the car. She, and Robinson and Centers were all taken by ambulance to Saint Elizabeth Hospital (Florence) where they were treated and released. Rodgers was not injured.
The collision is being investigated by the Boone County Sheriff's Department Accident Reconstruction Unit.
