The candidates for President might wish they could promise what actor, director and writer Emilio Estevez promised Cincinnati today.  He is planning to create more than a thousand jobs when he films his new movie in the city.

Estevez, the son of actor Martin Sheen and brother of actor Charlie Sheen, says Cincinnati is a perfect fit for the family film Johnny Longshot about a retired jocked who lives in Cincinnati and longs to get back on a horse mount for racing.  The main character ends up in harness racing.

Local 12's Deborah Dixon spoke with Estevez during his official announcement this afternoon at the Great American Ballpark. Estevez hopes the Reds will let him film a major scene there where his character throws out the first pitch at a game.

Estevez finished a tour with his father on a film called The Way last year.  They ended up in Cincinnati and he couldn't get the city out of his head.  He's using a production crew from the city and says he'll hire 1500 people including cast, crew and extras.  the film is expected to pump $12 million into the economy.

Estevez has scouted locations it Lebanon Race Track, Riverdowns, Mount Washington and Anderson.

Estevez expects to start work on the film here early next year.
