This is a sad and tragic situation.. I was not at the scene when it happened..I may not know all of the facts.. HOWEVER; In my opinion, the driver (Adam Horvath) has done everything "reasonable" under the circumstances..The tragedy of the loss of young Collin,( or the memories that Adam will endure) will not be diminished by persuing criminal or civil action..Prayers for all concerned..

Tragic case to be sure but the ones who are at fault are Colin's parents... Where were you when he started using drugs? Bet you didn't even notice did you? But let the poor kid die and you're ready to hang blame on someone else. Know who your kids hang out with. pay attention to changes in behavior. Ask questionsBe nosey, even intrusive...It could have saved your son's life if you took an interest in it...You are to blame as much as your son, who contrary to what you would like to believe took the drugs of his own free will because he like them and wanted to take them. You're pathetic.

What happened to the theory that he was suicidal after his break-up with his GF that night, and was coping with other types of depression? For all we know, he jumped in front of the driver.

Colin's parents need to face the facts! their son wasn't an altar boy they wish he was, he was a druggie. They won't take any responsibility for that fact. Let's not forget, they built a shelter/pavilion to honor his druggie memory also. For some reason, people in TP, HP and IH can't accept the fact their kids are like anyone else's from any other neighborhood. Just because they have more money than other, doesn't mean their kids are any better at all. Most times, even worse because the money just provides more opportunities for drugs, etc.

the driver whom did everything right gets railroaded.. while we hear nothing of the drug dealer whom provided the kid the drugs and some blame should fall on the ex gf whom dumped him and put him in mental distrest..hell go after all those lil punks from TP IH..

No winners in this. A young man that was loved is gone, his family both parents and his brother and sister will never recover from this. The young man that hit him will have to live with this for ever. From everything I know - (and it is quite possible that I may not know many things regarding this) but it seems the man that hit him was not high or drunk, he reported everything and seems to be truely sorry. I am very glad that they charged the man selling these kids drugs. I question why of all people charged the people where the party was being held have not been charged? They allowed a teen party to take place at their home, they allowed drugs and under age drinking to take place, they allowed this party to go on until 4 AM - and they allowed a 16 year old to walk home at 4AM. These people need to be charged and if I was the parent I wouldn't rest until they were.

Very good authority has it that these parents were obsessed with charges being filed and pulled every string to make sure it happened. Very, very sad (not to mention scary)that anyone has this kind of power. They need to realize that this will not bring Collin back and to do this will only ruin another life.

I have one question. Why has this taken so long. Could it be that it is election year and our great prosecutor is up for re-election. Great story right before everyone votes.

When you run a traffic light, you get a ticket. If you lose control of your car in a snow storm, you get a 'failure to maintain' control ticket. The driver did all he could, and that is admirable, but you can not kill another human being and there be absolutely no reprecussions (albeit self-defense). I don't believe the driver's life should be ruined with jail time and a bad record, but he should be held acountable... common sense.
