A Delhi township couple faces a judge today on charges they mistreated horses.

53-year old Darcel Metz and her husband Clyde are charged with four counts each of cruelty to animals.

Court documents say the Metz's deprived the horses of food and water and wholesome exercise at the stables where they were boarded in Colerain Township.

Police investigators got a veterinarian to examine the animal.  Today in court, Darcel Metz was released on her own recognizance and ordered not to go near the horses in question.

The SPCA has taken over care of the horses.
