Emergency crews contained a gas leak at the Schwan's Foods plant in Florence on Empire Drive Thursday morning. Officials had to evacuate the plant for several hours.
Employees called 911 just after 6 a.m. telling dispatchers there was an ammonia leak.
Fire crews from Florence, Hebron, Elsmere and Point Pleasant all responded to the scene. All employees were evacuated from the building.
Management at the plant said the leak from the freezer was contained. It's not clear how the leak happened. Firefighters left the scene around 11 a.m.
Schwan's specializes in frozen foods including Red Baron Pizzas.
