The Butler County confirms a baby girl who died in January was beaten to death.
Brittany Humphries suffered craniocerebral trauma-also known as head & brain blunt force injury The baby girl died just before her first birthday.
Previously, investigators with the Butler County Job and Family Services said there appeared to be nothing suspicious about the child's death, which happened January 14th. Investigators say police thought the baby choked to death on a hot dog. But the coroner discovered the girls' injuries during an autopsy.
The coroner tells Local 12 that it is now up to police to decide how to pursue the case. No charges have yet been filed.
This child's family has an open case with the Children Services for another matter. The child's four siblings have been taken out of the home and placed with relatives for the time being. Investigators say all five children had different fathers.
