A little boy was rushed to the hospital after falling into a backyard fire.

It happened around 8:30 Thursday night in Warren County on Ward-Koebel Road in Washington Township.

Officials say the six year old was learning to ride a bicycle in the yard of the family home when he crashed into the family fire pit. His mother was able to get him out and sustained burns to her foot in the rescue.

The boy has third degree burns on his arms, hands and legs and less severe burns on his face. He was flown to Cincinnati by Air Care. His exact condition is not known and officials did not release his name.

Honestly I don't think it matters what type of pit it was, my question is>.......... why would you let a young child, just learning to ride a bike, anywhere near an open fire?? Guess it was just "one of those moments"!! Being a Mother of 2 GROWN boys, I know how easy it is, to turn your head for a second or two, and BAM something crazy like this happens! I am truly sorry, that I may have sounded hateful at the start, but it was my first impression, but then I had flashbacks, of my days with a 6 yr old boy to run after. And if she was like me and some many others, she may have had other children, she was watching, as well!! May peace be with this family and God's healing hand with this young boy!!!
