A spokesperson for University Hospital in Cincinnati says the lone survivor of a horrific motorcycle-cement truck crash in New Richmond last week is now upgraded to fair condition.  53 year old Larry Gillinger of Fayetteville was flown to the hospital last Tuesday, suffering from burns which he received in the crash that killed two fellow motorcyclists.

Officials say 39 year old James Hensley of New Richmond had just filled up on gas at a station in New Richmond with his friends, 56 year old Daniel Frazee of Bethel and Gillinger around 2:25 p.m. on January 30th.  The trio left the station and were headed east on  U.S. 52 when Hensley, who was leading the trio,  failed to negotiate a curve, went left of center, and hit a westbound cement truck owned by Sardinia Concrete.

The concrete truck, driven by 58 year old Carl Watson of Seaman, overturned and struck Frazee's motorcycle. A sliding motorcycle then hit Gillinger's bike.

Hensley and Frazee both died at the scene. Gillinger was taken by Air Care helicopters to University Hospital. Watson was taken by ambulance to Clermont Mercy Hospital where he was treated and released.

Troopers say Hensley and Gillinger were both wearing helmets-Frazee was not. Troopers says they do not suspect alcohol use played a factor in this crash.

My condolences to the family. Ive been on two wheels almost my entire life from racing BMX as a kid, dirt bikes and racing road and mtn bikes up till a couple of years ago. I feel good bike handling skills come with experience and way too many people out there dont have the experience needed to be a good bike handler. too many deaths are a result of poor handling skills. I wish they would make it harder for people to get a motorcycle license.

Older bikes don't have a kick-stand down interlock, and could have easily caused someone to have trouble controlling their bike in a turn. Why promote such hate by blindly lashing out at someone that posted a legitimate potential cause of the wreck? Hatred toward a random anon hoping "Karma" will strike them back from a comment page won't help your step-nephew with his loss.

Ammys2Cuties, you have exhibited a lack of intelligence, a sick sense of what you probably think is humor and a total lack of compassion. I wouldn't want the Karma kick you have just earned!!!! By the way, Mr. Gillinger is my step-father's nephew....

RIP riders and prayers to the all the families and friends involved. We too ride and this could happen to any of us at anytime. So sad to hear. I hope the concrete driver is okay as well. I'm sure this must be devasting to him even though he was not at fault. Terrible tragedy.

If anyone would like to make a donation for the families involved in the motorcycle accident. There is an account at 5/3 bank "Masonic Fallen Riders Memorial Fund" for all donations. Thanks for all your prayers and support.

I believe that the Hensley family lives in my neighborhood and I want to convey my deepest sympathy to them. This is such a tragedy and I am praying for all the loved ones.

@Ammys2cuties, first off most motorcycles have a safety sensor now that makes it impossible to leave the kickstand down and be in gear. Your comment is rude and has been reported. RIP riders and God bless their families.

Everyone please pray for the Hensley family. They are my neighbors. He leaves behind a wife and two children. It is a sad sad day for this family and may God help them through this tragic time. RIP Jim
