STONELICK TWP. - The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly single-car crash on State Route 222.

It happened around 1:43 a.m. on Tuesday.

Deputies reported 29-year-old Robert P. Handra, Jr., from Batavia was driving a silver 2003 Ford Focus southbound on S.R. 222 when he drove off the right side of the road, striking a utility pole. The car went down an embankment and then struck a tree.

Handra, Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said he was not wearing a seatbelt, but whether or not alcohol played a factor in the crash has not been determined.

The crash remains under investigation.
