A man driving on a local roadway caught a retired police officer on video camera, allegedly driving drunk and swerving all over the roadway.

John Cain says he was on Highway 1039 west of Warsaw at around 2 p.m. Thursday when he saw a man driving a red car, weaving left of center and swerving on the road. Cain grabbed his video camera and caught the driver on camera. He also called 911 as the man crossed the Markland Dam into Indiana.

A Switzerland County Sheriff Deputy was waiting for him and pulled the alleged drunk driver over. The deputy is also seen on camera pouring out a bottle of some kind of liquid found in the car.

The driver turned out to be a retired Police officer.  Officials have not released the man's name but The Switzerland County Sheriff Office says the man refused a field sobriety test and refused to take a breathalyzer test.

He'll appear in court Friday morning on charges of drunk driving.

Meanwhile, Cain admits to Local 12 that he was driving while also videotaping the alleged drunk driver.  He says he doesn't recommend it but thought it was too important to get the driver ahead of him off the roadway.
