I-75 southbound near Franklin reopened some five hours after a tractor-trailer and a sweeper truck collided, leaving one person injured.

The collision happened just before 4 a.m. Monday morning.

Both drivers were trapped, and crews had to remove the windshields on both trucks to extricate them. The semi driver was not hurt. But the driver of the street sweeper was transported by Franklin medics to Miami Valley Hospital.

Both vehicles were overturned and the semi was reported to be leaking fuel.

well for one the driver of the sweeer was heading back to base. two its not the kind of sweeper you ladies clean your rugs with, its a Sweeper "TRUCK" its a Tymco indurstreal air sysetm monted on an Izuzu Chasse and can go well over speeds for the high way. They guy isn't "DUMB" as you say he's been doing his Job for over 10 years. He's an well respect Operator in the dayton area that just got moved down to the Cincinnati base. Anther note YES the intestate does get swepte alot more then you know about but that takes bigger equipment and more safty protocalls that you can think of. Why he was driving so slow, we don't know its still under investagtion with the D.O.T And HWY Patrol. Also this Semi driver has nave been to Ohio so you must be thinking of anther truck becuse there are like 1,000 others that look/looked like it.

Tuffy - I'll ask the same dumb question -- What was a street cleaner doing on the interstate period? That is one of the stupiest things I've ever heard off. We know they weren't sweeping the interstate. Glad no one was killed, could have been. I can't imagine how this would happen.

I am so glad no one was seriously hurt. The semi cab looked terrible. I follow this semi quite often on 75 and have always found it to be driven at or below the speed limit. What in the heck was a street sweeper doing on 75 at that time of the morning?
