One little girl from Florida may just be getting coal for Christmas.

Neighbors say the eight-year-old has been stealing holiday packages from their doorsteps in Clermont and they have the video to prove it.

A few residents set up a sting after they noticed packages missing.

They got footage of a little girl taking a decoy package on her way from school after getting off the bus stop.

"Complete and utter shock it wasn't a teenage boy; it wasn't a passer-by. It was an 8-year-old child. one year younger than my daughter",  said neighbor Thalia Araujo.

According to police reports, the packages included Barbie dolls, children's makeup and children's cell phones.

Police say they don't suspect anyone else was involved in the theft and they plan to present the case to the juvenile authorities.

Was the girl's parents at work when this happened, and if so why was she allowed to wander around alone without supervision by one of them or a baby-sitter afterschool? Are the girl's parents encouraging her to steal? If not, they will still be held accountable for their child's actions---I hope. Jorgebrito2: both males and females are stealing and vandalizing and starting fights. No matter what age, as we can again see. Around my neighborhood it's mostly boys and men who are breaking into houses and cars and stealing whatever they can find. Sometimes it's a girl or woman, too. Doesn't matter to me WHO is stealing or instigating violence: the person needs to be held accountable; and if it's a child, THEY need to be held accountable as well as their parents/guardians--and not necessarily in Juvenile Hall every time; but perhaps in this case Family Therapy mandated by court? Wouldn't hurt.

To those that are traumatized seeing it is a young girl, I have news for you. These days there are more girls doing illegal stuff than boys. I have noticed. I tell you on Halloween there was a girl in a restaurant asking customers for candy, and if they didn't have candy, then she would ask them for money. The people that I was with and my self were keeping an eye on that girl that was going around asking people for money, and then she even said "I am so happy that so far I got five dollars." She was with a lady and another boy, however the boy was an angel, he was quiet and never got up for nothing. Guess what, the lady had to apoligize to each and every single person the girl tried to take and took money from Luckily she didn't say anything to us, because if she would, we would have asked her "Where are your parents?" Also one lady from the police SWAT Team was there and saw her, and takled to her and gave her a few warnings. She was going all around the restaurant on the loose asking for candy and money. I tell you again young girls are more dangerous than young boys. Oh! and just remember a few months ago, than 9 year old girl that killed the baby girl she was taking care of.

To the person that said that presenting this case to juvenile authorities is too harsh, that is not so. She did something illegal and she has to pay. It doesn't matter how old she is. Children can be delinquents, children can be criminals, children can be bad people. She definitely needs to go to trial and needs to sit in juvenile detention for some time so they can teach her right from wrong. Like I said, she must have got this idea of stealing from TV or from something that she saw.

The girl is the only one at fault, because the parents are at work and they are not aware of the things she does away from home. She needs to go to juvenile detention and spend some time there. I am sure the girl got this idea of stealing from TV or something like that. Very smart for an eight year old to be sneaking at people's apartment doors to steal.

athiestjoe- I'ts the PARENTS FAULT. IT'S HOW YOU RAISE YOUR KIDS. I said it again. You said, "They need to sit down and talk to the kid....found out why she did this, then, go from there". hahahahaha! Did you hear that from Dr. Phil? Yeah, let's try to REASON with an eight-year old. Teach the kid when they are small and then there won't be a problem. Any adult in the home should teach the kid right from wrong. If the kids steals...where is she learning that? Should we blame society, government, the people next door? I can tell how you grew up, what's with the "shut the hell up, and calling me ignorant?" Use a spellcheck at least!

how can you say "it's the parents fault"? Were you there in the house as she was being raised? No? Well, then shut the hell up. They need to sit down and talk to the kid....found out why she did this, then, go from there. The fact that some people automatically blame the parents beforw knowing any details just goes to show how ignorant some people in our society really are..... Thay you and have a wonderful journey.

I agree with getreal. The parents are to blame on this one.

Why would one automatically assume it was a teenage boy? As this story shows, never assume anything.
