Wedding music is an important part of a marriage ceremony. The traditional ceremony includes playing a musical prelude while guests are being seated. If you are holding your ceremony in a church, check to make sure your musical selections are approved for use. Some non-religious, or popular music, may be restricted to the prelude and not allowed during the ceremony itself. The processional music is the song used to signal the arrival of the wedding party, followed by the bride's entrance. Popular choices include 'Here Comes the Bride' (Bridal Chorus) and the recessional know as 'Wedding March.' Processional music is generally played by an organist. The recessional music is played at the end of the ceremony during the departure of the bride and groom, the wedding party, and seated guests. This music is traditionally uplifting and joyful. For musical suggestions for your wedding, consult your church's organist or your contact at the ceremony site.
