When addressing your invitations, remember it is better if they are handwritten rather than typed. If your handwrtiting is hard to read, you may want to ask some of your family members or wedding party to address them for you. Another suggestion is to hire someone who does calligraphy. This, of course, will be more expensive, but may be worth it if you do not have the time. The outside envelope needs to include the guest's name, address, and zip code. To save time and effort you may want to have your return address printed on the envelopes. If you have an inside envelope, the guests' names need to be repeated. If the guest is a child over sixteen, you want to send a separate invitation. The rule of thumb is to send one invitation to each couple. For a guest who is single, write the person's name and the word 'guest' on the inside envelope. Write out any titles such as Reverend, Doctor, or Captain. You can abbreviate Mr., Mrs., and Ms. Place the invitation inside the inner envelope face up. Enclose any extra items such as pew cards and reception cards inside the inner envelope or inside the invitation. Place the unsealed, inner envelope in the outer envelope, so the guests' names will be visible when the invitation is opened. Remember to weigh the envelope to make sure you have enough postage.
