In planning your honeymoon, first consider how much time you have, and how much money you can spend. Then, make your decisions accordingly. It's important to start planning early, especially when your wedding takes place during peak season. Popular honeymoon locations book up, just like wedding and reception sites do. In addition, if you're traveling out of the country, you'll need at least six weeks to get a passport. However, trips to Mexico, Canada and some Caribbean islands don't usually require a passport. A good travel agent can be a big help in planning your trip. Often, he or she may have access to discount fares or packages. You might also want to check for special deals on the Internet. Whoever you choose, make sure you're dealing with a reputable, well-known agency. Check their record with the Better Business Bureau, and find out if they're a member of any professional organizations. Unfortunately, there are unscrupulous or poorly organized companies who'll take your money in advance, and then can't, or won't provide your tickets when the time comes. If possible, book your trip through someone you know, or someone a friend has used and recommends.
