When planning a party or special event, consider these factors: the purpose of the event, time frame, guest of honor, if any, demographics, budget, and how the success of the event will be measured. You may want to consider hiring a professional party and event planner. That way, you can let the experts take much of the worry and hassle out of planning your affair, so you can relax and enjoy it. They can take over much of the work and coordination, such as sending invitations, decorating, providing tables and utensils, planning and serving the meal, coordinating entertainment, and cleaning up afterwards. If you're using a party planner or entertainer, allow them to propose their ideas. Consultations are usually free. Be available for questions at any time, and don't let ego or fear get in the way of event success and teamwork. Make it fun. As a courtesy and to maintain a good relationship with your party planner, pay deposits and balances promptly. Whether you're using a professional or doing it yourself, here are some suggestions to make your event memorable. Plan well, and enjoy the party with the guests. Send invitations at least two weeks in advance of the event, and always include the expected type of dress. Spice things up with elements that will have guests talking, such as an unusual theme. Go for dimension by using oversized, three-dimensional props. All these elements add to the 'wow' factor and help create drama and impact in a room. Be organized, but not regimented, and keep things simple. Aim for fun overall.
