The remarriage of a parent is a difficult thing for most children to accept. They should not only be told about the wedding, but they should also be actively involved in the planning, shopping, and decision making. Of course, every situation is different, and some children may choose not to be involved. Whenever children are involved in a wedding, the engaged couple has to make a decision as to the extent of the involvement based on the couple's own preferences and the needs of the children. Merging two separate families is not always easy. Depending on how it is handled, it can either be unifying for the couple and their families, or it can add tension to an already difficult situation. The most important thing is for the couple to discuss their feelings with each other, as well as their thoughts on the children's role in the wedding. For additional information, consult a bridal consultant.
