If you've never been one to follow the herd, why start now? Make your wedding as unique and creative as the rest of your life, by styling it around a favorite theme. Your theme could be a time period, such as Roaring Twenties, Victorian, or Medieval. It might be based on your ethnic heritage. Or, the subject could reflect your occupation. Whatever your theme, look for inventive ways to carry it out, from beginning to end. Start with the invitation, as that will set the tone for the event. If you can't find an appropriate invitation, consider having it designed, or create it yourself on the computer. Add special touches to your ceremony by wearing theme clothing, or incorporating symbolic decorations. When planning the reception, let the theme influence everything, from the site you choose, to the food and beverages, and type of music played. Nothing establishes an atmosphere like music. If you think your guests will oblige, you might encourage them to come dressed in theme costume. Ready to be inspired? The library is a great starting point. Look through old newspapers, history books and other sources to see what was prevalent, and gather ideas for a fabulous theme wedding.
