Gone are the days when a second-time bride was expected to go off and marry quietly, with no fanfare. Though your second wedding deserves its own unique style, there's no set rule as to what that style should be. Sometimes, those who had a modest first wedding may now be able to afford a more elaborate event. Or, if you already held an extravagant ceremony, you might prefer a simple affair this time. The ceremony itself may be religious or civil, held in a house of worship, or a unique location. And yes, you can wear white...just don't wear your old dress again. While it's nice to consider your family, for the most part, you should do what you want, especially if you're paying. Though some etiquette books claim that gifts are optional, most guests will bring them, and that's fine. It's also perfectly acceptable to attend showers, engagement parties and other festivities. If you have children, give them a role, so they feel involved in the wedding. For example, an adult child might accompany you down the aisle; or you may choose to light a community candle with your children.
