The Ceremony

Choosing ceremony time
Once you have set the date and location for your wedding, you are then ready to choose the ceremony time. Sometimes the time of the ceremony depends on the part of the country in which the ceremony will take place.
Choosing vows
You may choose to include time during your wedding ceremony for special readings, poems, or even personal vows to add a special touch to this important day.
Flowers
Flowers for your wedding should fit the style and formality of the occasion. The florist you choose will be able to help you decide on the best floral arrangements that will complement your ceremony.
Including international customs
If you or your spouse has strong ethnic ties, you may want to incorporate special customs into the wedding, the reception, or both. This makes for a unique event, and is a nice way to honor your family's heritage.
Jewish wedding traditions
Jewish wedding traditions will vary, depending on whether you follow Orthodox, Conservative or Reform practices. However, there are many common elements in Jewish ceremonies.
Processional and recessional
In most Christian and Reformed Jewish weddings the clergyman will stand at the front of the church with the groom and the best man to the right of him.
Rehearsal
Most ministers require you and your wedding party to have a rehearsal in order to make sure things go smoothly on the day of the wedding. Be sure to have your wedding thoroughly planned with the officiate a few weeks before the rehearsal is to take place.
Second wedding ceremonies
Gone are the days when a second-time bride was expected to go off and marry quietly, with no fanfare. Though your second wedding deserves its own unique style, there's no set rule as to what that style should be.
Wedding music
Wedding music is an important part of a marriage ceremony. The traditional ceremony includes playing a musical prelude while guests are being seated.
Wedding theme ideas
If you've never been one to follow the herd, why start now? Make your wedding as unique and creative as the rest of your life, by styling it around a favorite theme.
Where should I have the wedding?
Your choice of wedding site may be influenced by a number of factors, such as your religious affiliation; your budget; the climate and weather; how many guests are invited; and also by what's available on the date you choose.
