In keeping with their special day, many brides want a hairstyle that's somewhat fancier than usual. Hair that's worn up, or decorated with silk flowers, pearls or other trim is a popular choice. If you don't have a style in mind, flip through bridal magazines for ideas. One guideline is to choose a hairdo that complements your gown. If you're wearing a modern, streamlined wedding dress, hair will look best if it's sleek and simple, too. Another important consideration is the weather, and your hair's natural texture. Avoid styles that go against your hair type: those with naturally curly hair shouldn't try to maintain a straight hairdo, in a humid climate. Instead, go for a look that works with your hair's natural direction. Whatever style you choose, it's best to try it out far in advance. Have your hairdresser do a 'test run', or do it yourself, if you'll be styling your own hair. Don't wait till the day before to get a cut or color you might regret. Nor is this a good time to try your first perm. Even when you're just touching up an existing style, schedule any trim or coloring about two weeks prior to the wedding. This way, you'll have a little 'breathing room,' should it require some adjustment.
