Creativity, tradition, and personal preference can all play a role when choosing the wedding attendants' outfits. Bridesmaids are usually clothed in matching dresses chosen by the bride. Like the wedding gown, these dresses will usually reflect the formality and season of the wedding. This will often determine the material and length of attendants' dresses. In addition, bridesmaids often carry similar or matching small bouquets. Like the relationship between bride and bridesmaids, the style and color of the groomsmen's tuxedos are usually determined by the groom. While ties and cumberbunds may be of varying colors, the style will usually reflect the formality and season of the wedding. The attendants' outfits are a symbol of the taste and style of the wedding couple and, while tradition usually calls for conformity, creativity can also be used. For instance, you can give each attendant a different bouquet or you can dress bridesmaids in differing colors of the same dress. The choice is ultimately up to the bride and groom. For more information, consult a wedding planner or a book on weddings at your library.
