This funny-looking octopus doll may end up being a favorite toy because your children can make it themselves. An octopus doll requires yarn, ribbons, and rubber bands. Make a yarn ball about three inches in diameter. This will be the octopus' head. Now lay out 24 long pieces of yarn, and tie them together with a rubber band about one inch from the top of the yarn pieces. Place the yarn over the head with the little one-inch pony tail on top. Spread the yarn pieces so they cover the head evenly. Then bind the yarn pieces again, this time under the ball. Now, your children can braid the yarn pieces, three at a time, and secure each one with a rubber band. The doll should have eight braids when they're done. Cover all of the rubber bands with ribbon bows, including the rubber bands on top of and under the head. Glue on little pieces of felt for the eyes, and your children's octopus yarn doll is ready to love.
