The growing trend of corporate-sponsored day care is fueled by greater demand for employee satisfaction, as well as practical solutions for employers who want reliable childcare for employees. Federal and state government workers have benefited from on-site daycare for years, and have established practical procedures the corporate world might want to emulate. Federal and state daycare programs are usually run by contractors, individual entrepreneurs with expertise in childcare, or branches and franchises of a chain daycare. This removes the burden of overseeing the daily operations, as well as administrative paperwork. Some government daycare centers have a waiting list for admitting children. Many of these centers encourage employees to tour the daycare prior to being offered admittance, because employees often only have one day to respond to notification of an available opening in the center. If this is the case at the facility you're considering, check to see if employees are responsible for updating any contact information while on the waiting list. Some of these centers won't attempt to locate waiting list clients except through the numbers on their applications. Similar to competing daycare facilities, government-sponsored centers usually require enrollment fees and prepayment for weekly tuition.
