As much fun as puzzles are, they aren't as exciting after they've been put together eight or ten times. The challenge just isn't there. Here's how to get a never-ending supply of puzzles--let your children make their own! They can use their artwork for their puzzle design, or they can use photographs from magazines. The first step is to glue the art or photos onto a piece of cardboard or heavy paper. Then, on the back of the cardboard, draw the design for the puzzle pieces. Older kids can cut apart their own puzzles, but smaller ones may need some help from you. If your children enjoy making their own puzzles, let them make puzzle cards for birthdays and holidays. Have them draw a picture or greeting on a small piece of paper and then follow the previous instructions. Mail the pieces in an envelope, and the recipient will have a great time putting together the puzzling message.
