Kids love trying something new almost as much as they love playing in water. Combine the two by having the kids paint without paint. If you have pre-schoolers, give them a pail of water and a large paint brush each and send them outside to paint the house. Even though it sounds simple, kids usually love this 'grown-up' activity. Here's a twist on the idea that'll let the kids paint and clean at the same time. Put several cups of powdered laundry soap in a bowl and add a little water. Use your electric mixer to beat this concoction until it has the consistency of whipped cream. Divide the mixture into several bowls, add a bit of food coloring and you have soap paint! The kids can use this to create masterpieces on the outside of your windows and sliding glass doors. When they're done, give them the hose and once they've sprayed off the soapy paint you have relatively clean windows. Another self-cleaning idea is to cover a table with a plastic table cloth and use dad's shaving cream to let the kids fingerpaint with the shaving foam. Happy painting!
