Microwave ovens not only heat your food, but they can help you cook a great dough for creating ornaments for any festive occasion. Ornaments to decorate a bookcase, a mantle piece, or a Christmas tree. To make the dough, mix two cups of flour and one cup of salt. Slowly pour in one cup of water until you have a thick clay-like dough. Knead the dough for about ten minutes until all the lumps are out of it and the dough has the same consistency throughout. You can roll out the dough and cut it with cookie cutters or simply mold the shapes like you would with clay. For best results, the ornaments should be less than half an inch thick. Spritz a microwave baking sheet with vegetable spray and place your creations on the tray. Microwave at a medium setting for two or three minutes. Turn the baking sheet and cook for another two or three minutes. The ornaments need to dry on a wire rack for at least 24 hours. Once dry, they can be decorated with paints or felt-tip markers. If you want the ornaments to be hung, or worn as necklaces, put small holes in the pieces before they're baked.
