PENDLETON, Ind. (AP) - The police chief in a central Indiana town says a New Castle man suspected of shooting two police officers has been found dead from a gunshot wound.

Pendleton Police Chief Farrer says 59-year-old suspect Jim Kenneth Bailey was found dead Friday morning outside a home in the town about 25 miles northeast of Indianapolis. He says police believe Bailey took his own life.

Officers sealed off Pendleton after Thursday night's shooting injured an Anderson police officer who's being treated at an Indianapolis hospital for a non life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg following.

Madison County Emergency Management spokesman Todd Harmeson tells WTHR-TV  a Pendleton police officer whose police dog died in the shooting was grazed in the neck by a bullet but returned to duty.
