LANCASTER, Ohio (AP) - A central Ohio dog trainer is facing dozens of charges after authorities found dogs without water being held in filthy kennels.

The Fairfield County Sheriff's Office said 39-year-old Cory Dewberry turned himself in and pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Wednesday. His attorney said he did nothing wrong.

The local humane society and deputies raided the guard-dog-training business in Lancaster last week, seizing seven dogs and finding teeth and bones believed to be dog remains.

Officials said Dewberry ran the Dewberry Family K-9 Kennel. He is charged with 55 counts of animal cruelty and 15 counts of animal abandonment. All are misdemeanors.

Deputies began investigating after an Akron dog owner filed a complaint earlier this month claiming that her 2-year-old German shepherd had been abused and neglected at the kennel.
