SALYERSVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Milo the cat is a survivor.

Crystal Byrd told WKYT-TV  in Lexington she was driving to work when she saw a car hit a cat and knock it into the median of the Mountain Parkway.

Byrd went back, scooped up the cat and took it to Dr. Rudolph Ousley's veterinary clinic in Prestonsburg. The cat has several lacerations on its face and back and scarring on its head.

Byrd said the vet performed an X-ray and discovered the cat had been shot three times in the past.

The cat - Byrd named him Milo - is still struggling to recover. She told the vet she would pay for its care if no one claimed it.

I am amazed by the individuals posting the nasty comments. It doesn't say much for them as human beings. I'm guessing they don't believe in Heaven either, because you have to be good and decent to get there. Bless you, Crystal Byrd, you have a place there for sure....

I wonder if the shooter(s) will see this report and realize they can't even kill a cat, and know that they are pansies.

What a caring woman this is. Not many if any people would stop let alone take it to a vet and pay for it's medical care. She is a very good person, which is hard to come by these days.

Milo was very fortunate to have crossed paths with Crystal Byrd. What was Milo “shot” by? Kids with a BB/Pellet gun, a cross-eyed hunter, or a bartender with 3 shots of whiskey? (Apparently the unnamed reporter did not think to ask?) I sincerely hope Milo fully recovers from his/her (did the X-ray not reveal the cat’s gender?) injuries and finds a good home. I hope a staff member at OAR reads this story so they can see firsthand what kind of horrors they expose these cats to when they release them on our streets. What kind of monster would subject these defenseless animals to these dangers? OAR seriously needs to rethink their inhumane ‘fix and release’ program.

That is awesome. That's the way it should be with animals, caring not killing.
