SAN DIEGO (CNN) - A salute to mother nature may become a local landmark in Del Mar, California.
Andrew Cullum, a woodworker since he was four, recently carved one of the last remaining Cypress trees in the area into a 15 foot dolphin sculpture.
"I wanted to do something special here and not let it go by the wayside, so there was an opportunity," said Jack Jaeger, who's lived in the area for 30 years.
The sculpture took about two weeks to make. Cullum said there were rough patches in the project, especially with the middle of the tree. The tree was rotten and there was too much damage to save.
