Puppies & Kittens

Housebreaking puppies/kittens
Housebreaking puppies and kittens can be a challenging and rewarding experience. Let your pet know when it is acting inappropriately, but avoid violence and yelling.
Socialization
Pet socialization is important for the development of a confident and less fearful pet. Early socialization will help your pet better relate to both humans and other animals, however, newborn pets should not be taken away from their litter until well after the weaning period.
Training of young pets
To be most effective, the training process should begin as early as possible in your pet's life. You do not have to be a professional to train a pet, but you do need commitment and consistency.
Vaccinations for pets
When you receive a new pet, it is important to have it checked by a veterinarian as soon as possible. This is especially true for puppies and kittens who need to be started on a series of vaccinations within the first two months of life.
Where to find a young pet
Sources for new pets can include animal shelters, pet shops, animal breeders, newspaper ads, friends and neighbors, and sometimes animal hospitals who have abandoned pets looking for a home.
