Many paid crew positions go to experienced professionals, but opportunities are also available for novices who may then work their way up to better positions. Crew is all about teamwork. Crews are hired by yacht owners through contacts at a boating club or through a crewing service. Crewing services usually hold meetings once a month. These meetings Enable crew members to meet and discuss trips. Each month, members are sent a list of skippers, detailing their boat specifications and their crew Requirements. Similarly, skippers are sent a list of potential crew Members, along with information about their experience and sailing Requirements. It's then the responsibility of crew and skippers to make Arrangements to perform certain tasks that range from cooking to Navigating. Crewing may be anything from a short race to a one–week or Several-month journey. Professional crewmembers earn from $300 to $600 a Week. A mate earns from $250 to $400 a week. Room and board and an airline Ticket home are also provided.
